In recent years, P2P lending as a kind of inter-individual micro-credit through online services has become popular among college students. Students are eager to consume excessively through P2P lending. However, a student from a college in Zhengzhou led to his own death because of inability to repay various online loans that amounted to hundreds of thousands RMB. This tragedy indicates that it is urgent for college students to strengthen their awareness of the risk of excessive consumption.
According to the investigation, most loans are used for entertainment, such as spending on travel, buying big-ticket items, cosmetics, clothing and so on. Actually, there are some dirty tricks of interests in the lending services. Besides, the loose credit checking mechanism leading to the infringement of students’ personal information. Furthermore, it is hard for college students to repay the loan as they do not have stable income. They will be charged for the penalty if they do not repay the loan within the payment period, which will bring a heavy burden to their lives and minds.
Our advice:
1. Set up correct and rational consumption view.
2. Reject unhealthy trend of “keeping up with the Joneses” and instinct spending. Develop healthy consuming habits based on reality.
3. Raise your vigilance and improve the consciousness of financial and consumption risk.
